Alice in Cornelland, LEA11
23 July 2013
A woman in a bikini watches as a Plywood French Maid sweeps a Plywood Floor with a Plywood Broom.
In this virtual world primitive objects begin their life as plywood and then are textured to every imaginable thing.
After a half year in residence at LEA11 (Linden Endowment for the Arts, Artist In Residence, Region No.11) it was time for Vanessa Blaylock Company to return the 15,000 primitive objects and 6.5 hectares of virtual land to the LEA Committee. And after 4 years and 50 Virtual Performance Art works, it was also time for VBCO to close its performance art chapter and look forward to a less tightly choreographed, more participant driven, series of Virtual Public Artworks.
And so, farewell!
In VB50 a team of avatar cleaners stripped the texture off all 15,000 primitive objects at LEA11, stacked them neatly, and did 6.5 hectares of dusting and vacuuming.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s participated in these 4 years of adventure and discovery. What a truly epic journey. What a vast and undiscovered country. What wonderful company.
Love,
