Avatar Blogosphere?

I wrote yesterday about the Reply Post and also about that decade-old term The Blogoshpere that seems to making a bit of a comeback as a number of peeps find frustration in the limits of Social Media.

Who’s Blogosphere?

This is very exciting news to me, still, The Blogosphere, well, it isn’t anybody’s “property,” but it sort of feels like the domain of fleshvatars. Yet there are so many Avatar Bloggers! So many great avatar bloggers! Like Ironyca who writes on World of Warcraft (WoW), Ravanel who writes on Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO), Inara Pey my source for all things technical, Strawberry Singh a wonderful VR fashion blogger, and Canary Beck who I think of as a culture observer or VR ethnographer, to name but a few!

Challenges

I know lots of VR bloggers do read each other and have created many communities. 2-1/2 years ago Syp created the awesome Newbie Blogger Initiative where I discovered lots of awesome blogs including Ravanel’s beautiful blog Ravalation. In June of 2013 I launched Avatar Blogger Month challenging avatars to do 30 posts in 30 days.

Avatar Blogosphere

So now I’d like your help putting together a list of avatar bloggers. A “map” of the Avatar Blogosphere. It might already exist. Or maybe a dozen lists already exist. They might be out of date? I’d love it if you’d drop a link to your Avatar Blog in the comments here. Adding a few words about the focus of your blog, like a specific world, or technology, or digital culture, would be great. If you know of a list, or have one yourself, please drop a link for that too.

Not every avatar has to read every other avatar’s posts, it’s a big virtual world and interests and focus can vary. But for those writing in areas of interest, it’d be great to follow each other. Again, obviously, lots of peeps are already doing this!

Feed Readers

As for how to follow, there are lots of choices. You might follow in the Tumblr Dashboard, or by emails from WordPress.com. You might use an RSS Feed Reader like Blog Lovin, there are many great choices. My personal favorite is Feedly. It’s a pretty powerful, easy, and fast way to look at a lot of work.

Help!

What blogs should I be reading? What feed reader do you us? Or how do you find new posts? Or do you? What else?

Many of you may have a better sense of the State of the Avatar Blogosphere than me. Who do you read? What’s your sense of the community? Is it a community? How does someone engage the community? How do we take it to the next level?
